E-Max Crown #7
Project type
Fixed Prothetics
Date
2026
64-year-old male presented with long-term provisional crowns on teeth #7 and #10. Upon removal of the provisional restorations, tooth #10 was evaluated and determined to be non-restorable. Tooth #10 was extracted.
Tooth #7 was restored with a definitive lithium disilicate (E-max) crown. Diagnostic casts were obtained and used to fabricate an Essex retainer to provide a temporary esthetic replacement for the missing #10.
The patient presented with an edge-to-edge occlusal relationship and significant generalized attrition consistent with parafunctional bruxism. Occlusion on tooth #7 was carefully adjusted to minimize functional loading and reduce risk to the new restoration. A protective occlusal night guard was fabricated and delivered to the patient.
The patient will continue treatment with comprehensive prosthodontic rehabilitation, including sectioning of an existing bridge, extraction of the remaining abutment tooth, and fabrication of a surveyed crown on the remaining abutment to support a removable partial denture (RPD).
